Right Way To Print Your Email : Tip

Whether it is driving directions, a recipe, or an important memo, some e-mail you receive is fit to print. Even though you may have multiple e-mail addresses and multiple ways to access them, printing a message is typically a straightforward process.

When printing from a Web-based e-mail application, use the e-mail application’s print option to create a printer-friendly version of the message. We advise against going directly to your browser’s print command. While this option works for printing other types of Web pages, you will end up printing not only the e-mail message but also the ads, buttons, and other interface elements around it.

Follow the steps below to print from the most popular e-mail applications.

Print With Microsoft Outlook, and Outlook Web App

1. Select the e-mail you would like to print.

2a. In the client application, click File and then Print.

2b. In the Outlook Web app, turn off the right-side viewing pane in the View menu, and double-click the message to open it in a new window. Click the Printable View button at the top of the window.

3. A print dialogue box will pop up. Adjust the settings and print options before you send the job to your printer.

Print With Gmail

Here’s how to print an entire conversation (as Gmail calls an e-mail thread).

1. Open the conversation and click Print all on the right side of the window.

2. After the simply-formatted printable window opens, use your browser’s print command to print.

Here’s how to print a single e-mail.

1. Expand the message within the thread that you’d like to print.

2. Click the down arrow to the right of the Reply button.

3. In the resulting menu, click Print to get a printable window.

4. Print using your browser’s print command.

Print With Yahoo Mail

1. Open the message.

2. Click Print on the toolbar at the top of the window to get a printable version of your message. A print dialogue box should pop up.

3. Adjust the settings and print options before you send the job to your printer.

Print With Hotmail

1. Open the message.

2. Click the Print icon on the toolbar at the top of the window to get a printable version of your message.

3. Adjust the settings and print options before you send the job to your printer.
