Fake Wi-Fi networks

BANGALORE, INDIA: If you are one among those smartphone users who log on to any WiFi network on the go, then beware, fake Wi-Fi networks are on the prowl to steal your personal data.

News website BBC and security firm Vigilante, in a video, show how fake WiFi steals data and numbers from smartphones.

The site says, "A fake Wi-Fi hotspot run by criminals could allow them to steal passwords and log into social networking sites."

And this can be your Facebook or Twitter accounts also. Not just this, other sensitive data in your smartphone are also at risk.

So, the next time you look out for a hotspot, make absolutely sure that the WiFi network is a secured one.
